Turkish Prision Camps



Smyrna

SMYRNA (IZMIR): This prison camp was located in the Vilayet of Smyrna on the western coast of Anatolia on the Gulf of Symrna. It was the second largest city in Turkey and one of the most important seaports on Aegean Sea. The Turks began to assemble British and Indian prisoners of war from the interior of Anatolia in Smyrna in September 1918 for repatriation.
